Believe for Miracles

God is a miracle-working God!

Mark 11:22-24 says;

 Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

The church I grew up in, had this verse displayed, and seeing it every single Sunday caused it to become seared in my heart. A seed of faith was planted in this little girl’s heart. As the years went by and life happened, that seed of faith grew as I clung to the hope that is found only in Christ. Most people probably don’t know this, but I’m a walking miracle. I almost died 5 times in my life. Yes, 5 times. The enemy was persistent in his plan to destroy me…BUT GOD! Today I celebrate my 49th birthday and that is a miracle I thank God for. I remember crying out to God to save my life and so I see every breath and every day as a gift from God.

(The pic above is the church I grew up in)

Did you know that with God all things are possible? God can heal a broken heart. He can cure any sickness. He can bring the dead back to life. I’m grateful to have been witness to countless miracles. I’ve seen a man confined to a wheelchair get up and walk. I’ve seen people be cured of incurable diseases. I’ve seen a man pronounced dead by the EMTs come back to life. Yes! Nothing is impossible with God!

I’ve seen broken relationships restored. I’ve seen four divorced couples whose marriages were destroyed by the pain of life, fall in love all over again and get remarried. I’ve known people who were told they would never have children go on to have not one, but several children. I’m one of those people. I’ve met people considered by society “the worst of the worst” turn their lives around and become totally different people who love God and others and tell anyone who will listen about God’s transforming power. I have seen God provide resources where there were none. I’ve seen Him give favor and open doors of influence in ways that were undeniably Him. All of these miracles are a testament to the power and glory of God.

I believe we’re entering a season of miracles. Why? Because more than ever the world needs to see the glory of God. Times are dark, hope is waning and people are in desperate need of an experience with the God of miracles. They need Jesus, the only One who can give hope to the hopeless and turn any situation around. We don’t know exactly when Jesus is coming back but He IS coming back and for those of us who know Him, we have a responsibility to share Him with those who don’t. We can’t share what we don’t have and so we must be filled with His hope, His love, His joy, His peace… We need to live, eat, and breathe Him so our lives naturally reflect Him.

In 2 Kings 20 King Hezekiah was dying. He received a death sentence from the prophet, but Hezekiah didn’t’ accept it. He turned his face to the wall and prayed. He shut out everything else and looked to God. Because of His prayer of faith, God reversed his death sentence and extended his life 15 years. Nothing is impossible with God. Noah was the only righteous man of his time and God saved His family from destruction. God did the same for Abraham. All throughout the Bible God healed, delivered, and provided for men and women who were committed to Him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (NKJV).

I want to be that person God’s eyes land on. I want to be that person who has the faith to believe for miracles not just for my own life but for those my life touches. This blog was short and sweet today, but this is what was on my heart. It’s been on my heart for weeks and I wanted to share it with you. I pray that great faith arises in your heart today and that you expect miracles to happen. That you believe for miracles to happen. That you contend for those miracles and then testify of those miracles to all who will listen. To God be the glory.
