Not Just a Dollar Bill

I found this dollar bill under a palm tree on the side of the road as I was jogging the other day. I almost missed it, covered in dust and blending in with the ground, but as I jogged I felt drawn to look and there it was. Many will look and say, “It’s just a dollar bill,” not very useful these days, and maybe not worth talking about. But to me, it’s a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness in my life.

This dollar bill reminded me that God never leaves or forsakes me, and even when I don’t see Him, He’s always there, behind the scenes, setting me up for success. He’s the small still voice that whispers words of love and truth. He’s the third man in the fire when I feel persecuted and alone, He’s the only reason I opened my eyes and took a fresh breath of life this morning. He is Everything, Everywhere, and Eternally in love with me.

This dollar bill reminded me of God’s favor on my life and His promise to withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly before Him (Psalm 84:11) He’s the God who can and will supernaturally open doors no man can open, so His children could walk through them into favor. He’s the God who will bring us before people of influence as He did with Joseph, Esther, and Daniel, giving them an audience and favor with kings so HIS Kingdom could be established.

This dollar reminded me of God’s provision. That He is Jehovah Jireh, my provider and He can and will supernaturally provide for His children as they walk with Him. After all, He used the ravens to feed Elijah, He used one tiny jar of oil to fill vessel after vessel to save the widow and her sons, He used the five loaves and fishes to feed the multitude, He used a ram to save Abraham’s son and best of all He provided Jesus, the perfect sacrifice to save you and me from our sins and ensure our eternity with Him. There’s no limit to God’s provision for our lives. The stories of His provision are endless and continue in the lives of people like you and me who love and live for Him.

This dollar reminded me to look for God’s fingerprint in my everyday life. That He is ever-present, ever-faithful, and will show up in the unexpected. Like bringing me a dollar bill on a dusty road on an ordinary day, just to remind me that He is with me and for me always. He is the God that will move heaven and earth on behalf of His children. So if you thought when you saw this picture, “It’s just a dollar bill,” I pray that like me, you too are reminded of the goodness and faithfulness of God in your life. That like me, you’re inspired to look even more closely for His fingerprint on your life as you walk with Him each day.
