My boys got me this sweet “Super Mom” mug for Mother’s Day. Some days I don’t feel like a “super” anything, never mind a super mom. I want to be, I strive to be, but I fall short. Not just in being a mom, but in other areas of my life sometimes as well. Maybe I was cranky and short with my children that day, or I wasn’t positive and uplifting to my husband like I desire to be, or I lost my patience in a situation I shouldn’t have, or even made a big mistake on an important task. If I allow the enemy to, he will beat me up and bring me down. Can anyone else relate? Well, this is definitely not God’s heart towards us.
While it’s nice to receive a gift like this from my children; to have someone see something in me and call it forth; even more importantly, God does this for us every single day. When God sees us, He looks at us through the blood of Jesus and calls forth the great potential He has placed inside of us.
I love John 15:16 in the Message Bible, “You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.”
This means we may have tough days and fall short, but God has created us for success. He has given us everything we need to bear fruit! So next time discouragement comes, let’s try to remember to tune out that negative voice within and maybe sometimes even from without. Instead, let’s choose to meditate on what God sees in us and what He says about us. This will birth life into our very soul and spirit, and give us the strength and encouragement we need to reach our highest potential in Christ.
Now think about this! Super heroes are called “super” because they have great strength and character. Well with Jesus, we have this and more! So next time you doubt it and the enemy tries to discourage you, remind yourself you truly are “SUPER.” A super parent, a super spouse, a super neighbor, a super encourager, a super employee, and most of all a super child of the King!
Excellent!
Thanks Arlene!
