Who is your God? Our faith(belief) in God, is built on our own personal knowledge of Him, not someone else’s. I can teach my children about God, and while it will inspire them to pursue Him, they’ll need to have personal experiences with Him to solidify their faith. It’s the same for each of us.
Most often, our knowledge of God comes in the midst of great hardship, because it’s when we can no longer fix or change things with our natural ability; when we can no longer depend on any other person or natural thing in this world – that we come to the end of self and the beginning of God. THESE MOMENTS are usually most painful, but also most precious, because they are opportunities for us to experience God personally. THESE MOMENTS ARE LIFE CHANGING.
John 17:3 says, “Now this is eternal life, to know the One true God and Jesus Christ, whom He sent.” Eternal life isn’t just going to Heaven, it’s knowing God personally, and walking this life with confidence in who God is. The knowledge we gain in these moments of hardship, can never be taken from us, because we have experienced God personally. This personal knowledge of God, becomes the very foundation of our faith.
I have had several moments like these in my life. I recall these moments whenever hardship strikes again. I shouldn’t even be alive today…BUT GOD! I was literally at deaths door 3 times, and He healed my broken body. When I was told I would never have children, He opened my womb and gave me two sons. They are my gifts from God. When we were without income unexpectedly for an entire year, after God led us to walk a different path with Him, we stayed the course, trusting Him in the unknown. We didn’t know how we would survive…BUT GOD…He took better care of us in that year, then we could have ever taken care of ourselves. We have seen God do countless miracles and they were all in moments when we couldn’t in our natural ability, fix or change a thing. We had to trust God, stand on His Word and wait on Him for the promise. He never failed us and we know He’s not about to yet. My God is always on the throne. He is never taken by surprise. My God knows the end from the beginning, and He is always the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the God who loves me with an everlasting love and the God with whom all things are possible. This is who MY God is!
Who is YOUR God? I want to encourage you to recall the testimonies of God in your life. Think about the moments before the breakthrough. It’s usually the darkest before the light breaks through. Meditate on how He showed up in your life and did the impossible. We don’t usually choose to go through hardships, and yet, when it’s over, we can confidently say, “Look what the Lord has done!”
We are in one of “THOSE MOMENTS” in time where we can’t – BUT GOD can! God wants to reveal Himself to each of us like never before. He wants us to personally experience His power, His goodness, His provision, His love and His mercy. In this moment in time, we have a great opportunity to “be still and know that He is God.” Don’t get caught up in the flurry of fear; and miss the small still voice of God calling out to you. Turn your heart to Him. He is always with you. His Word says; “I will never leaver or forsake you.” I see a vision of when all of this is over ….I see a glorious people of God emerging….those filled to the overflow with greater confidence, love and unwavering faith in who God is. We will be the people Daniel 11:32 talks about – a people who know their God; who shall be strong and carry out great exploits!
“…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
Daniel 11:32b
Thank you so much for those encouraging words and “testimonies” of the Goodness of God that will empower us to stand on the promises of our loving God in these difficult times knowing with all assurance and confidence that He will never leave us nor forsake us! We turn our hearts to Him and draw closer to Him than ever before! We position ourselves to be the people Daniel 11:32b talks about – “a people who know their God; who shall be strong and carry out great exploits!” <3
Amen Carmen! You are in my thoughts in prayers! Our God is faithful!!
