Keep Doing Good

Hey Friends! I know it’s been awhile since I blogged, but I’ve been busy “momming” and trying to keep my boys busy this summer in the midst of life’s other responsibilities. I can’t believe school starts in less than a month. As a homeschool family, life changes a lot for us all once the school year begins. So, the boys and I are trying to enjoy every last moment of freedom we have. I do however, love the start of a new school year. I know, it sounds weird, but I love the routine, I love teaching and learning alongside my kids, and I love the quality time we are blessed to spend together.

Also since my last blog post, I had a birthday week, which was a lot of fun. We celebrate birthdays for a whole week in our house, so I got to choose some fun things to do and really enjoyed this year’s birthday. So all in all, it’s been a good summer so far. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been some of those bumps in the road I talked about in my last blog post. Life may not be perfect, but God is always faithful. One of the verses the Lord has been speaking to my heart recently is Galatians 6:9, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up (NLT).”

It can be easy to get weary, can’t it? Sometimes just the responsibilities of life can wear us down. Other times it’s those bumps in the road which may seem to be much less far and few between than they should be. But God is so good to remind us to not get weary in doing good, in doing what’s right, in keeping on keeping on, because we are guaranteed to reap a harvest of blessing when we choose to not give up.

Strength is the key to not giving up and so it’s important to remember that our strength comes from the Lord. When I feel totally worn out, I know I better run to the source of my strength and drink deeply. My strength is always renewed as I seek God first each day, as I spend time reading His Word, and as I’m reminded of verses filled with God’s promises just like Galatians 6:9. In Christ, I always find the renewed strength to keep moving forward, to keep doing good and to not allow discouragement to bring me down. If you’re feeling weary, it’s ok, but know that God doesn’t want you to stay that way. He wants to renew your strength. God’s arms are always open and He’s inviting you to come and drink deeply from the well of Living Water.

As I write, I think of all the blessings in my life. I know that if I had allowed weariness to overtake me and given up in doing good, I would never have met my husband, would never of had my children and honestly, I probably wouldn’t even be alive today. What blessings are in your life today only because you chose to keep doing good and not give up? A new blessing may be right around the corner…. Don’t give up, don’t quit…. Remember, God is faithful to His Word, and He has promised that you will reap a harvest of blessing if you don’t give up. You may not know what that blessing is yet, but you can be sure that it’s going to be good, because God is good all the time!
